Photography is a way of feeling, of touching, of loving. What you have caught on film is captured forever... it remembers little things, long after you have forgotten everything. ~Aaron Siskind

From the time I was just a little girl, I've had a secret fascination with cameras. It wasn't until I bought a new digital camera about 4 years ago that I started exploring the ever changing world of photography.

An old bridge out in the middle of a small town sparked my interest and opened up a whole new world to me. I've discovered that things look so much different thru the lens. That's one of the things I love about photography, it allows you to see the possibilities you may not notice otherwise.

One of other things I enjoy is snapping a couple hundred shots and being unsure of what the final result will be. While editing, a certain crop may produce a better photo than I originally saw thru the lens. Often colors and textures will inspire me to come up with something a little more edgy or fun.

I've been capturing architecture, life around me and building a portfolio of my own personal style over the course of the last few years. With the help and encouragement of some really great friends, I was able to launch the digital detours website just before 2008 snuck up on me.

I began taking portraits about 2 years ago and have found that I enjoy it immensely. Watching people's faces light up when they see their photos for the first time is very rewarding!

Everything I've learned so far has been self taught. I've only attended one workshop that was held by Douglas Henderson. I look forward to being able to take classes and workshops for both photography and editing in the future as time and money allow. In the mean time, I'll continue to play and see what I can come up with.

I hope you enjoy the galleries on my website. They showcase some of my favorite shots. New additions will pop up often, so please check back often to see what I've discovered next as new opportunites come my way everyday.
